As a community-focused musician and public arts professional, El seeks to create inclusive programs and events that amplify underrepresented voices. With a background in music, education, and ethnographic research, El has organized diverse events, from workshops for local women & LGBTQ+ songwriters to guest artist performances and school recitals serving over 300 students & families. As an educator, El is thrilled to contribute to the Reneé Crown Wellness Institute, supporting its mission of improving access to mental healthcare for youth, parents, and educators.
El holds a Masters in Musicology (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, 2019) and a Bachelors in Music (American University, 2013). Previous research topics include Gender Construction in Brazilian Popular Music, and Afro-Brazilian Percussion's Healing Impact on Women in Washington, D.C.
