Desiree is a clinical psychologist from Guatemala currently working on the Alma and Alma-S studies. She has research experience in rural Guatemala, where she performed neurodevelopment tests to infants and children for over two years. She then moved to Denver, Colorado, where she earned her Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Global Maternal and Child Health at the University of Colorado. As a fellow at the Center for Global Health, Desiree worked with other Crown Institute team members to culturally adapt and implement the Alma program in under-served communities in Guatemala. Her research interests include child development and its intersection with maternal mental health. Her work in the Crown Institute focuses on building local capacity among Latina mothers experiencing postpartum depressive symptoms through research and evidence-based interventions.Ìý
