Arapahoe聽Libraries executive director Nicolle Davies聽(Jour; MPubAd鈥�03) was聽named Library Journal鈥檚聽Librarian of the Year. This聽is the first time a Colorado聽librarian has earned this聽honor. The award recognizes one individual for聽transforming their library聽and community and leading the profession toward聽innovation. Her library聽district offers access to聽technology including 3D聽printers, Go Pro cameras and virtual reality聽headsets. Nicolle served聽as deputy director of聽Arapahoe Libraries before聽advancing to executive聽director in 2012.

Producer and writer聽Drew Goddard (Engl;聽Film) received his first聽Academy Award nomination, Best Adapted聽Screenplay, this year for聽his work on The Martian.聽He is also the producer聽and showrunner for Daredevil, a Netflix original TV聽series that began its second season this spring.

Steve Alvarez聽(MJour) wrote聽the book Selling War:聽A Critical Look at the聽Military鈥檚 PR Machine,聽which recounts the failed聽communication efforts聽of the U.S. military in聽Iraq, offering an insider鈥檚聽view of military public聽relations. Steve, a Bronze聽Star recipient, was the聽public affairs officer in聽Iraq for General David H.聽Petraeus from 2004 to聽2005, and supported the聽training of Iraq鈥檚 security forces. Selling War聽was published in March聽by Potomac Books, an聽imprint of the University聽of Nebraska Press.

Registered dietician聽and certified executive聽chef Gavin Pritchard聽(Kines) aims to help聽individuals, groups,聽families and teams reach聽their health goals by聽promoting science-based聽nutrition messages聽centered on boosting聽confidence in the kitchen.聽He contributed to the聽Healthy Gut Cookbook聽and collaborated with聽Joseph Feuerstein on the聽book Dr. Joe鈥檚 Man Diet,聽which focuses on nutrition for middle-aged men.聽Gavin was inspired by the聽very first class he took at聽CU to combine professionally his passions for聽cooking and nutrition.聽Gavin lives with his wife聽and two daughters in聽Connecticut.

Real estate聽attorney 厂别补苍听叠补丑辞蝉丑测 (Mktg) was聽named one of eight聽new shareholders at聽Brownstein Hyatt Farber聽Schreck, a Denver-based聽firm. Sean鈥檚 practice聽focuses on commercial聽real estate transactions,聽emphasizing acquisition,聽disposition and financing聽of commercial proper-ties. He has experience聽representing lenders and聽borrowers in connection聽with real estate financing聽transactions and regularly serves as counsel to聽buyers, sellers, owners聽and hotel operating聽companies.

In February, 搁测补苍听惭肠骋辞惫别谤苍 (Mktg)聽closed the largest residential real estate sale聽of the past two-and-a-half years in San Diego聽for $17.7 million. Ryan聽and wife Kristina Hoyer聽McGovern (Advert鈥�03)聽are hopeful that one聽day their two daughters,聽Madison and Kinley,聽will follow in their聽footsteps by attending聽CU-麻豆影院.

Littler聽Mendelson聽P.C., the largest聽U.S.-based law firm representing management聽in employment, elevated聽Joshua Levine (Mgmt)聽to shareholder. Joshua聽represents employers on聽class actions, wage and聽hour disputes, wrongful聽termination and harassment and discrimination聽claims. He also advises聽employers on issues聽relating to compliance聽with California and聽federal employment law.聽Prior, Joshua served聽as a judge advocate in聽the U.S. Marine Corps,聽where he worked as lead聽counsel for more than 70聽cases and was deployed聽to Afghanistan as the聽deputy judge advocate for the 7th Marine聽Regiment.

After spending 11 years聽as an anchor at KOB聽in Albuquerque, N.M.,聽Nicole Brady (Jour)聽returned to Colorado聽and is now a reporter聽and anchor for Denver7聽on weekday mornings.聽She and her husband live聽in the Denver area with聽their two children.

Former Buffs football聽cornerback and nine-year NFL star 顿辞苍补濒诲听厂迟谤颈肠办濒补苍诲 (MechEngr)聽joined the Mechanical聽Engineering Strategic Advisory Board at聽CU-麻豆影院. In 2007聽he founded Visionary聽Moments, a San Francisco-based business聽that makes multimedia display cases. He聽says his mechanical聽engineering degree聽from CU-麻豆影院 was聽instrumental in helping聽him design and bring聽his products to life. He聽also initiated the 顿辞苍补濒诲听厂迟谤颈肠办濒补苍诲 Foundation,聽a nonprofit dedicated to聽steering young people聽toward a successful聽future through education聽and sports.

In December,聽狈颈肠丑辞濒补蝉听碍补苍迟 (Jour; Law鈥�06)聽represented the state聽of New Jersey in a $2聽million settlement with聽Accutest Laboratories to聽resolve allegations that聽it strayed from federal聽and state requirements聽for the extraction and聽testing of certain compounds and submitted聽false claims to the聽state and its agencies聽for payment. This was聽the largest non-Medicaid-related False Claims聽Act settlement in New聽Jersey history.

Dylan Kletter (Psych)聽was elevated to partner聽at the Hartford, Conn.,聽branch of the law firm聽Brown Rudnick LLP.聽He represents clients聽across the country in聽a range of litigation聽matters, focusing on private equity and venture聽capital firms and their聽portfolio companies. He聽also works with strategic聽acquirers concerning聽failed mergers and聽acquisitions, securities聽fraud, contract disputes,聽ear-outs, post-closing聽adjustments, escrow聽disputes, customer and聽supplier disputes and聽environmental issues.

Scott Pertel (Comm)聽was elected president聽of the San Francisco聽Bay Area chapter of the聽commercial real estate聽development association聽NAIOP for a one-year聽term. Last summer 闯别蹿蹿谤别测听罢辞尘濒颈苍蝉辞苍 (PolSci) was聽a featured performer at聽OUTspoken!, Chicago鈥檚聽monthly LGBTQ storytelling event. He is the dean聽of instruction at Noble鈥檚聽Rowe-Clark Math and聽Science Academy in聽Chicago. He specializes聽in coaching, developing and supporting 16聽English Language Arts聽and humanities teachers. Jeffrey鈥檚 teaching聽career has brought him聽to Washington, D.C.,聽Denver, the Dominican聽Republic and Dallas.

Alex Becker聽(IntlAf, Ger)聽is co-founder of the聽Denver-based real聽estate firm Real Estate聽Consultants of Colorado.聽The company helps large聽real estate investment聽groups and businesses聽make commercial acquisitions. Alex committed聽$10,000 to CU-麻豆影院聽and its Global Grants聽Campaign, which helps聽students afford to聽study abroad. He also聽serves on the international affairs advisory聽board and completed聽his term on the Alumni聽Association advisory聽board in April. As a聽student Alex studied聽abroad at the University聽of Regensburg in聽Germany, America鈥檚聽oldest German exchange聽program available to聽CU international affairs聽students.

Law firm Edelson PC聽named Eve-Lynn Rapp聽(PolSci) partner. She is聽the hiring partner for the聽firm鈥檚 Chicago office,聽and focuses her practice聽on consumer technology聽class actions with an聽emphasis on cell phone聽telephony and telephone聽consumer protection聽cases. Prior to joining聽the firm in 2012, she聽worked at a Chicago聽class action firm, served聽as an extern in the聽Cook County State鈥檚聽Attorney鈥檚 office and聽clerked for judges聽Yvonne Lewis and Plummer Lott of the Supreme聽Court of New York.

Rajesh Bagchi聽(PhDBus),聽associate professor of聽marketing at Virginia聽Tech, received the Early聽Career Award from the聽Society for Consumer聽Psychology for his聽contributions to the field聽of consumer psychology. Rajesh鈥檚 research聽interests are in pricing,聽numerosity, goals and聽loyalty rewards. He聽has co-authored many聽journal articles examining how consumers view聽or deal with numbers in聽their decision making.聽His other research has聽involved how willingness聽to buy is influenced by聽color and word sounds.聽He has also won several聽research and teaching聽awards, including the聽Young Scholar Award聽from the Marketing聽Science Institute in 2013.

After graduating,聽Orla Stiles (Comm)聽moved to New York to work聽in fashion, got engaged聽and moved back to Los聽Angeles, her hometown.聽While wedding dress聽shopping, she felt there聽wasn鈥檛 a stylish option for the 鈥渃arefree,聽fashion-forward鈥� bride聽in L.A. She took a risk聽and in January officially聽opened Solstice Bride聽on Abbot Kinney Blvd.聽in Venice, Calif. 鈥淚magine a fuss-free space聽where you can drink聽champagne with your聽friends, listen to your聽favorite tunes and try on聽effortlessly cool wedding gowns,鈥� said Orla.聽She has even sold a few聽gowns to CU alumni.

Steven Mokan聽(MBA) is the聽owner of 麻豆影院 County聽adventure travel company Chasing Epic. The聽company offers all-inclusive, guided mountain聽bike adventures to聽destinations in the western U.S., and includes聽custom trips, women-only trips and trips聽for experienced riders.聽Trip locations include聽Sedona, Crested Butte,聽Durango and Park City.

Her passion for聽the cultivation of rich and聽meaningful programming聽within higher education,聽especially in her home聽state, inspired her to聽work for her alma mater.聽She lives in Denver.
