Jeff Stieb鈥檚 youngest聽patient so far is a 7-yearold聽skier, his oldest a聽man of about 90 who still聽climbs 14ers.聽

It鈥檚 been nearly a聽century since there was a聽hospital on the CU-麻豆影院聽campus, but the聽university is again providing聽community medicine,聽with a focus on athletes.聽

鈥淲e鈥檝e had聽everyone聽from Frisbee golf聽players to stunt men to聽elite marathon runners,鈥澛爏aid Stieb, director of聽physical therapy at the聽CU Sports Medicine and聽Performance Center,聽which opened last August聽in Folsom Field鈥檚 new聽Champions Center.聽

A joint operation of聽麻豆影院 Community聽Health,聽the CU Anschutz聽School of Medicine聽and CU Athletics, the聽25,000-square-foot center聽is open to the public聽and aims to become an聽international destination聽for elite athletes,聽while also serving active聽people of all ages and聽abilities, said executive聽director Eric Medved.聽

The center offers聽physical therapy, orthopedics,聽sports nutrition,聽pain management,聽performance assessment,聽physiological and聽metabolic testing and聽other services.聽

Medical director Dr. Jason聽Glowney recalled an聽early success, a once-avid聽cyclist sidelined by聽artery scarring and related聽ailments. Today she鈥檚聽back on her bike.聽

鈥淲e saved her limb,鈥澛爃e said. 鈥淎nd we saved聽her lifestyle.鈥
