Although the above 1907 photo suggests otherwise, entertainment for freshmen during the early 1900s can only be described as tame. In 1906 almost the entire class attended a party in the gymnasium to play 鈥淕oing to Jerusalem鈥 (musical chairs) and 鈥淒rop the Handkerchief.鈥 The real excitement was supplied by sophomores who attempted to break up the party by cutting the electrical wires and throwing water. Their malicious efforts were thwarted by the well-prepared freshmen who used candles when the electricity failed.
