Nikki Marshall, who finished her CU soccer career with the most goals in program history (42), was named to the All-Central Region first team following her senior season. Marshall also made the All-Big 12 first team for the fourth straight year. In mid-January she was picked No. 7 overall in the Women’s Professional Soccer draft by the Washington Freedom. The Buffs finished with a 9-10 record in 2009, failing to advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time in the past seven years.
³§±ð²Ô¾±´Ç°ùÌýKaitlyn Burkett wrapped up her volleyball career with 3,001 assists, becoming just the sixth Buff to surpass the 3,000 milestone. CU completed its first season under coach Liz Kritza with a 7-22 record.
Cullen Bryant (Rec’74), an All-America defensive back for the CU football team in the early 1970s, died in October at age 58 in Colorado Springs. Bryant played 13 seasons in the NFL.
Two CU tennis players, Melisa Esposito (64) and Monica Milewski (90) were ranked among the top 100 female college singles players in the country going into the spring portion of the schedule. Milewski and Michala Hedelund Jensen were ranked 44th in doubles.
CU’s Buffalo Belles booster club, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, was featured in a December article in the Â鶹ӰԺ Camera.
