The College of Media, Communication and Information听was established in 2015. The CMCI alumni community includes you, your classmates and all graduates of the Department of Communication and the former School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Together with her mother, Laura Carrillo (StratComm) established a real estate investing company in August 2022. Since then, they鈥檝e successfully flipped two houses, and her degree has been invaluable as she continues this startup journey.

After graduating, Alex Borinstein (Comm) moved to Denver, joining Kroenke Sports and Entertainment鈥檚 partnership marketing department. After interning for six months, he transitioned into a full-time role. He鈥檚 grateful for the connections made at CU, which have helped him begin his career working in professional sports.

Grace Naber (StratComm) moved to Dublin after graduation for an internship with Groopeze, a travel and booking agency operating in the U.K. and Ireland. She is excited to spend the next period of her life abroad, and she is thankful for all she learned through CMCI and will soon be applying in the real world.

Izzy Fincher (Jour, Mus) published her undergraduate honors thesis in journalism, 鈥淎n Examination of Mainstream Media鈥檚 Treatment of Female Guitarists,鈥 in the Journal of Popular Music Studies. She presented her work at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research and the International Communication Association Conference in 2023, and at the UW-Madison Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies Consortium in 2024.

This fall, Areyana Proctor (CritMedia, Jour) enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Wisconsin鈥揗adison鈥檚 Department of Communication Arts, with a focus on media and cultural studies. There, she will be a teaching assistant, starting with an introduction to digital media production class, while working toward her PhD and studying media representation.
