Isabella Escobedo works for the CEJ as a research assistant. In 2024, she graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Conservation Biology and Ecology. Her introduction to research came freshman year of college working with a PhD student on his dissertation regarding inequality and climate change. Later, she assisted on a thesis project focused on urban wildlife distribution in Phoenix, AZ. Finally, she completed her own thesis project senior year on the extinction of experience phenomenon.
Her goal is to combine her research experience, passion for the environment, and new journalistic skills to translate scientific papers for broader audiences. She is particularly interested in conservation work such as dam removal projects and species reintroduction initiatives. When she is not working on academics, she enjoys puzzles, card games, working at a coffee shop, and matcha lattes.
