Jeff Blumenfeld, members of the "gift of sight" expedition and a native Nepali pose for pictureJeff Blumenfeld, a lecturer in the Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design at CU 麻豆影院, recently returned听from a two-week听mission to bring eye care to hundreds of people in Nepal.听 Blumenfeld, who is president of local PR firm听Blumenfeld and Associates, served as the communications director for the 鈥淕ift of Sight鈥 expedition.听

The mission, run by non profit aid group听Dooley Intermed International, provided quality eye care to Nepalis in remote or inaccessible areas of the country through eye exams, refractions and sight-restoring cataract surgeries. When finished, the crew of three ophthalmologists and support staff had successfully provided care for 800 Nepalis in the Upper Gorkha region, including 71 performed surgeries.听
