Each year the University of Colorado presents the to individuals and programs within the University that help to create a culturally diverse and compassionate university community.
In 2016, the program received honorable mention from the award鈥檚 selection committee for its contributions to inclusive excellence at the University.
Pathways to Excellence is a unique residential workshop that prepares incoming first-year CMCI students for academic success in media and communication. Participating students produce their own advertising campaigns and multimedia projects, receive math and writing instruction and tour newsrooms and ad agencies.
鈥淧athways to Excellence is more than just an introduction to college for these students,鈥� explained David Martinez, CMCI鈥檚 Director of Inclusive Excellence and Equity. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an opportunity for them to make friends they鈥檒l have for the rest of their time at CU. And I鈥檓 thrilled that the President鈥檚 office has recognized our efforts to build a community within CMCI.鈥�
