Michel Bauwens,听an eminent Belgian peer-to-peer theorist focusing on听technology, culture听and business innovation, will speak at the 麻豆影院 on April 5. Bauwens听is director and founder of the , a global organization of researchers focused on听peer production, governance听and property. He has written and lectured extensively on the commons and its economics.
In his talk at CU-麻豆影院鈥揺ntitled 鈥揃auwens听will discuss the role of media platforms in the听transformation of civic, market听and state forms toward a contribution-based and commons-oriented economy.听He will argue that new forms and institutions emerging in this process are potential seeds for a successful transition toward a fair, free听and sustainable mode of value creation and distribution.
The talk is open to the public and is听sponsored听by the Department of Media Studies in the College of Media, Communication听and Information听and CU鈥檚 Innovative Seed Grant program.

On April 6, Bauwens will meet with cooperative organizations from the 麻豆影院 community to discuss his "Chamber of the Commons" concept. The discussion is open to the public and听will include听presentations from several local organizations, giving the 麻豆影院 community a听chance to share strategies, challenges and new opportunities for collaboration.
