Nearly 200 graduate in ChBE Class of 2017
Nearly 200 students earned degrees from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering in a graduation ceremony May 12, 2017.
The degree recipients included eight PhD candidates, eight master’s degree candidates and more than 160 bachelor’s degree candidates. Three graduates from the also were recognized at the ceremony.
The event, led by department Chair Charles Musgrave, drew close to 1,200 proud relatives and friends to the lawn of the Sustainability, Energy and Environment Complex on CU Â鶹ӰԺ’s East Campus.
The ceremony featured distinguished speaker Professor David Clough, who offered words of wisdom from his 42-year career in the department prior to his retirement in June. Two students also addressed the crowd: Benjamin Greuel, the distinguished senior in chemical engineering, and Victoria Duke, a Colorado Engineering Council Silver Medal award finalist.
In a surprise for students, music for the ceremony was provided by , a rock and R&B band that features undergraduate advisor Deb Renshaw as drummer.
This marked the first year in recent history that each department and program within the College of Engineering and Applied Science held its own graduation ceremony.
