Scarlett鈥檚 dissertation, 鈥淭he Power of Placemaking: Collaborating with Tribal Communities to Reimagine the Museum at Mesa Verde National Park,鈥 centers on the collaborative museum redesign process between Mesa Verde National Park, the 26 Pueblos and Tribes associated with the Park, and the 麻豆影院. Her work looks at how a new dialogical approach serves decolonial goals to center Indigenous ways of knowing and return land to Native peoples. She argues that this process is both 鈥渞e-Indigenizing鈥 Mesa Verde and changing the way Park employees think and feel about the Park, their work, and descendant community members. These new relationships, new beliefs, and new understandings could have impacts beyond merely this one park. They could change how the National Park Service writ large engages with tribal community members to work towards returning control over these ancestral lands to tribes.听
