Dr. Sangbok Kim is a Teaching Professor and a Korean Language Coordinator who is dedicated to enhancing language learning experiences. Dr. Kim's impact extends far beyond traditional classroom walls. His innovative spirit is evident in the creation of PIP Lang, or Pronunciation - Interpretation - Performance Language. PIP Lang streamlines language acquisition by offering students a unique opportunity to practice their Korean oral skills from the comfort of their homes. • Participate in our Students as Partners Initiative! ASSETT is seeking faculty members to participate in the Students as Partners Initiative for fall 2024! If you have a desire to create an inclusive and equitable educational experience for your students, increase engagement in your classrooms, and engage with a diverse community of scholars, we encourage you to before Sept. 20, 2024.

• Join us for our ! ICoP provides a monthly meeting space to discuss promising practices in inclusive and equity-minded teaching and learning. Our first meeting for AY 2024-25 will be 3-4 p.m. Wed., Sept. 18, to discuss anti-racist pedagogy. All are welcome!

• Explore the new Grade for Student Success faculty guide to student-centered grading in Canvas. The guide includes 16 straightforward guidelines, along with Canvas video tutorials to help you implement them in your own courses. The guidelines have been designed to make grading in Canvas more efficient and customizable for instructors, while supporting student success!

• The monthly is taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024 from 12:30-1:30pm on Zoom. October’s session will focus on Navigating AI within Your Departmental Culture With Diane Sieber, (Engineering) and additional faculty panelists. Leave this session with tips for talking about AI with your colleagues and tools to bring your department together for a generative dialogue about the impacts of AI on your discipline.

• Promoting a respectful, inclusive environment is important for our campus, especially when political tensions are rising. Join WorkWell for a panel discussion with the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), the Ombuds office and the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) to learn how to navigate political discussions in the workplace. Panelists will also share campus resources available to faculty, staff and employees during times of tension and stress. , and !

• The Cherry Award program is designed to honor great teachers, to stimulate discussion in the academy about the value of teaching, and to encourage departments and institutions to value their own great teachers. The recipient of the Cherry Award will receive a prize of $250,000 and will teach in residence at Baylor University during an upcoming semester. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 1, 2024. !

• Join us for the on Wednesday, October 23 (4-5pm). Over the years, many faculty and instructors have shared their feelings of working in isolation and the need for more community building with one another. We know that support, and a sense of community is important for our learners, and it is equally important for our faculty and instructors’ well-being and success. Enjoy light refreshments, mingle with colleagues, and meet with our staff. Our goal is to hear from you about your experiences on our campus. What have you found meaningful and/or challenging? What kinds of resources and opportunities would be useful for you? This event is specifically intended for adjuncts, lecturers, and part-time instructors.
