Benson Center appoints new Sabbatical Fellow for Fall 2023 and Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy for Spring 2024.

Brandon Warmke, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Bowling Green State University, will join the Bruce D. Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization at University of Colorado, 麻豆影院 as Sabbatical Fellow for Fall 2023 and as the Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy for Spring 2024.

Professor Warmke has published widely in moral, social, and political philosophy, including important essays on public discourse, forgiveness, free will and moral responsibility, virtue ethics, social morality, and conservatism. He is author of two books, Grandstanding: The Use and Abuse of Moral Talk (2020) and Why It's OK to Mind Your Own Business (2023). He has written for CNN and MarketWatch, and his work has been featured by The Atlantic, New York Times Magazine, HuffPost, Scientific American, Forbes, Vox, Commentary Magazine, and The Guardian. During his year at the Benson Center, he will be writing a book on conservative political philosophy.

Professor Warmke will offer an undergraduate course on "Liberalism, Socialism, and Conservatism" and a graduate seminar on "Virtue Ethics and the Political Virtues" as well as host public events for students, faculty, staff, and the broader CU community.

Professor Warmke received his PhD from the University of Arizona.
