The Center for Western Civilization, Thought & Policy鈥檚 Director Robert Pasnau recently spoke as part of a panel at The Steamboat Institute鈥檚 10th Annual Freedom Conference and Festival.

The two-day conference and festival took place on Aug. 10-11 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Pasnau was one of many individuals invited to speak at the conference that is hosted every year as a setting for the nation鈥檚 conservative thought and policy leaders, as well as the general public, to gather and discuss policy issues the nation is currently facing.

Pasnau participated in a discussion with others from the academic community titled 鈥楬igher Ed Needs More Cowboys.' He and his counterparts representing the University of Denver and the University of Maryland discussed the increasing need for open discourse on college campuses. Pasnau referenced his experiences in the classroom and in events on CU鈥檚 campus, detailing how the Center for Western Civilization, Thought & Policy strives to create more balanced communication within the student body and throughout the CU 麻豆影院 community.

Pasnau noted that shutting down other individual鈥檚 right to speak is counterproductive and that message needs to be transmitted to today鈥檚 younger generation.

The conference also featured a keynote address from the U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary, Ryan Zinke, and remarks from representatives of Turning Point USA, Fox News and The Heritage Foundation.
