Shubhra Raje is an architect and educator who is the Founder Principal of shubhra raje_built environments and is an adjunct professor of Architecture at the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University’s School of Architecture in Ahmedabad (India). In addition, she has taught at her graduate almamater Cornell University. Shubhra has designed projects that range from community networks in Aurora CO, rehabilitating masonry structures in Egypt to the design of art spaces, weekend houses, social and educational institutes and leisure environments across India, and the United States – thereby engaging diverse issues, multiple constituencies and varying scales: from interior design and architecture to community design and conservation. Apart from the design of buildings, Shubhra has been actively involved in civic, educational and cultural affairs in both Ahmedabad and the Denver metro area. Within these sites, her interest lies in the role of cultural and community institutions as the new "public places", providing a sense of rootedness and a common ground: how we frame these, how we program them and ultimately, how we formalize them becomes the impetus for investigation.
