Over 140 water managers and modelers from federal and local government agencies, utilities, consulting firms and research institutions attended the 19^th RiverWare User Group meeting on August 29-30. Presentations described powerful and inventive RiverWare applications used to plan and operate diverse systems such as the Tennessee Valley, the Truckee River Basin, the Central Utah Project, New Jersey’s Raritan basin, and the Klamath River.

User talks described the use of RiverWare to address current water management challenges such as long-term planning on the Colorado River, binational management of the lower Rio Grande, tribal water settlement in Oklahoma, forecast-informed reservoir operations in Texas, and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. The CADSWES RiverWare research and development team gave presentations that showcased new and upcoming software enhancements, features and analysis tools including powerful hydropower optimization modeling, ensemble data analysis, integration with web maps, simulation-based optimization with multi-objective evolutionary algorithms, and the RiverSMART platform for managing huge planning studies that consider multiple future hydrologic and operational scenarios. The meeting format was interactive, and in the final feedback session, users voiced ideas for future enhancements.

The 18th RiverWare User Group Meeting was held August 28–29, 2019, and was attended by 125 RiverWare users and interested parties from federal, state and local water management agencies, power utilities, consulting/engineering firms and research institutes in the U.S. and abroad.

There were 16 presentations by users in the RiverWare community, giving attendees a look at innovative models and applications. The CADSWES Research and Development (R&D) team provided 10 presentations demonstrating new and upcoming software capabilities and features. Attendees communicated technical issues and needs and networked with others in the RiverWare community.

The 17th RiverWare User Group Meeting was held February 1–2, 2018, and was attended by over 150 RiverWare users and interested parties from federal, state and local water management agencies, power utilities, consulting/engineering firms and research institutes in the U.S. and abroad.

There were 19 presentations by users in the RiverWare community, giving attendees a look at innovative models and applications. The CADSWES Research and Development (R&D) team provided seven presentations demonstrating new and upcoming software capabilities and features. Attendees communicated technical issues and needs and networked with others in the RiverWare community.

A Successful Event!

This year's meeting was held August 23–24, 2016, at the Center Green Auditorium, here in Â鶹ӰԺ, Colorado. It was attended by over 100 people from various groups, including federal, state and local water management agencies, utilities, research institutions, consultants and the CADSWES research & development team.

This was another valuable meeting for both the R&D team and the user community to provide information about new and upcoming capabilities of RiverWare, see actual modeling applications being performed by other users and discuss possible enhancements. This year, there were 17 presentations by various users in the RiverWare community, as well as many from the R&D team. Each was approximately 15 minutes in length, with opportunity for attendees to ask questions after.

The RiverWare User Group meeting is one of the most important events CADSWES holds. It is typically held on a sesquiennial basis to maximize the information exchanged with attendees. It runs all day on day 1, and a half-day on day 2. It is a great opportunity for us to see what people are doing with our decision support system tools and make plans for future development.

The next RiverWare User Group meeting is scheduled for February 1–2, 2018. More information and registration details will be available later in 2017.

The 15th RiverWare User Group meeting on February 3 and 4 was attended by over 80 RiverWare users from federal, state and local water managment agencies, hydropower utilitites, consulting firms and research institutes. Users presented their Riverware applications and CADSWES R&D team demonstrated new and upcoming software features. .
