Matthew Higgins is a researcher and educator specializing in resilience, well-being, and meaningful work. He has been teaching communication and business for eight years across multiple institutions, including Rice University, Claremont Graduate University, and the University of New Mexico. In addition to teaching for Leeds, Matthew is Full-Time Faculty for Central New Mexico Community College in their business department. Matthew is also a Research and Evaluation Associate with the Clarement Evaluation Center in Claremont, California.听
Before his academic career, he coached college and professional basketball, where he developed a practical understanding of leadership, teamwork, and performance. He founded and operated a basketball camp company that ran camps in 15 states and five different countries, including Spain, Costa Rica, and Australia. Most recently, Matthew was the Assistant Coach for the women鈥檚 basketball team at Colorado Northwestern Community College during the 2021-2022 school year.听
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew combines his research expertise with real-world experience as a consultant and coach to help students and professionals enhance their communication skills and foster resilience. Matthew earned a BA in Interpersonal Communication and MA in Intercultural Communication from the University of New Mexico. He earned his MBA from Adams State University in 2021. Additionally, Matthew is currently completing a Ph.D. in Positive Organizational Psychology at Claremont Graduate University. His research focuses on how individuals and teams build resilience and find meaning in their work.
