Dr. Erin Lionberger is a Communication Instructor for the Leeds School of Business at the 麻豆影院. She received her Ph.D. from Duquesne University in Rhetoric (2021), her MS from South Dakota State University in Communication (2017), and her BA from the 麻豆影院 in Communication (2012) 鈥 (Sko Buffs!).听

Erin teaches multiple different communication courses for Leeds including Communication Strategy, BASE, and Essential Management Skills. These courses focus on the importance of efficient communication in the business world and teach a variety of skills, including public speaking, professional presenting, management skills, and leadership. She also taught various courses during her Ph.D. coursework including Business and Professional Communication, Public Speaking, Integrated Marketing Communication, and Debate and Argumentation.听

Her research interests range from identity studies, semiotics, and performance studies to politics, political rhetoric, and communication ethics. Her most recent research is her dissertation titled 鈥淭he Construction of Identity through Tattoos: A Semiotic and Performative Exploration of Trauma" which explores Holocaust concentration camp tattoos and 9/11 memorial tattoos as being both symbolic and performances of identity simultaneously. She has also previously presented papers at multiple conferences, including earning a top paper award at the Eastern Communication Association conference in 2019 in the Communication Law & Ethics Interest division for her paper titled 鈥淣o human is illegal: An exploration of communication ethics and the DACA program.鈥

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her pug Leonardo, hanging with her parents in Longmont, and watching sports.
