He has been making and teaching animation for 20<br> years and his work has been shown in festivals and galleries nationally and<br> internationally including New York, Seattle, Maine, 麻豆影院, and Madrid.<br> His core practice as an artist is "looking closely" which he considers a<br> meditative practice that balances the mind.</p> <p>Pearce's two films will explore evolving identity. The first film attempts to<br> make sense of the self in the wake of unmasking revelations about<br> parenting. She has been awarded<br> residencies by The MacDowell Artist Colony; Yaddo; Djerassi; The Core<br> Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and the Galveston Artist<br> Residency.&nbsp; Sears is&nbsp; She experiments with new<br> forms of animation in the surrealist tradition, using found footage in a<br> novel way to create provocative narratives. Her mesmerizing films move<br> with a stream of consciousness fluidity and summon disquieting dreamscapes<br> drawn from allegory, myth and archetype. In both works, Stephanie is interested in how the nature/culture divide is preserved or challenged by the labor of individuals doing hands on work in service of either science or conservation. She will screen clips from both works in progress.&nbsp;</p> <div> <p>Stephanie Spray is a nonfiction filmmaker, anthropologist, and Assistant Professor of Critical Media Practices at the 麻豆影院. Her work conjugates ethnographic methodologies with a critical nonfiction media practice, for cinema and art exhibition contexts. Her films have screened at Locarno, New York, Art of the Real, TIFF, CPH:DOX, Viennale, RIDM, AFI, Rotterdam, Open City Docs, BAFICI, and Anthology Film Archives, among others, and museums such as MoMA, the Whitney, the National Gallery, and Louisiana MoMA. In 2014 she co-founded&nbsp;WECreate Productions. The pharmaceutical and political potential of dance interests her, as well as the value of broken and labor-intensive ideas.</p> <p>Among Ellsworth鈥檚 honors are a Guggenheim Fellowship (2016), Doris Duke Impact Award (2015), a NEFA National Dance Project Grant (2014 and 2017), a Creative Capital Fellowship (2013), and a USA Artists Knight Fellowship in Dance (2012).
