Sergio, an aspiring electrical engineer set to graduate from the University of Florida in the spring, has channeled his childhood fascination with Lego into a promising career in coding, circuit design, and prototype building. His academic journey has been complemented by a passion for music, which seamlessly integrated into his research endeavors at ATLAS during his summer 2023 internship at ACME Lab.
At ACME, Sergio embarked on an innovative project to create a music production tool, drawing on the pioneering Fabricating Paper Circuits techniques of Ruhan Yang and Krithik Ranjan, as well as the Sensing Kirigami carbon-coated paper technology from Clement Zhang and Peter Gyory. His venture into designing a paper-based tangible interface and keyboard represents a blend of simplicity and technology, transforming everyday paper into interactive, manipulable interfaces.
Despite being new to MIDI controller design and lacking prior ownership experience, Sergio embraced a rigorous research and development process. His journey, marked by trial and error, underscores the importance of patience and adaptability in innovation. His bio reflects a dedicated intern with a keen eye for design and a deep understanding of the iterative nature of technological development.
