Lauren Jones Young is an educator, with interests in social justice and improving access to meaningful educational opportunity for all students. She is Director Emerita of several Spencer Foundation programs, including U.S. and international institutional initiatives. Most recently Lauren鈥檚 work in philanthropy focused on teaching courses at Northwestern University on the practice of giving. A faculty member at Michigan State University prior to her Spencer appointment, Lauren was honored with the university鈥檚 Teacher-Scholar award for her work on teacher preparation and teaching practice. The former National Board Chair for Mikva Challenge, she holds Ed.D. and Ed.M. degrees in education and social policy from Harvard University.聽
