Designer and computer scientist Ellen Yi-Luen Do will join CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 ATLAS Institute and the Computer Science Department as a full professor this fall. 聽Currently a professor at Georgia Tech鈥檚 Schools of Industrial Design and Interactive Computing, Do鈥檚 research interests span human-computer interaction, creativity and design cognition, computing for health, tangible and embedded interaction, and computer aided architectural design. 聽Her other interests include origami and drumming.
Do (pronounced 鈥淒oe鈥� in Taiwanese, or 鈥淒u鈥� in Mandarin) is a native of Taiwan and earned a master of design from Harvard University in 1991, and a PhD in design computing from Georgia Tech in 1998. 聽She recently completed a three-year stint as co-director of the joint Keio-NUS international research CUTE center at the National University of Singapore focused on ubiquitous computing. There she worked with industry partners and government agencies to fund a team of 25 engineers and designers on a diverse array of projects from augmented reality in medicine to electrically stimulated sense of taste.
