Position Description

ASSETT seeks an undergraduate student to support the BuffsCreate pilot project for Domain of One’s Own (DoOO) through technical support and user-population building. BuffsCreate gives all learners in Arts & Sciences the opportunity to own a domain and provides server space to freely design a web page to host their academic, research, professional, and/or creative works. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys learning about and using various technologies, is comfortable speaking to large groups, and is open to working with students and faculty alike.

Responsibilities

Become familiar with several open-source applications associated with BuffsCreate
Provide technical support and answer questions about BuffsCreate and associated applications
Help with student outreach efforts
Give presentations in classrooms and to student groups in order to introduce BuffsCreate
Host weekly drop-in support sessions for buffscreate
Co-facilitate student focus groups
Collect other feedback from BuffsCreate users
Curate or develop tutorials for open-source applications hosted with BuffsCreate
Other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled undergraduate student
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Dependable and organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly

Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with website design and development, ideally open-source applications
Familiar with and interested in information and digital literacy
Experience giving workshops or presentations to groups

Description

Arts & Sciences Support of Education Through Technology (ASSETT) is hiring a Teaching, Learning, and Technology Initiatives Graduate Assistant to support and enhance our faculty learning communities, campus partnerships and grow technology uses around initiatives such as the Faculty Fellows learning community, a Domain of One’s Own (DoOO) pilot, Collective to Advance Multimodal Participatory Publishing (CAMPP), Open Educational Resources (OER), and open educational practices. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is willing to increase their knowledge in these areas.

Responsibilities

Related to faculty learning communities:
- Provide support for Faculty Fellows’ teaching, learning, and technology projects
- Tracking project progress
- Developing support resources
- Disseminating fellows’ data and making fellows’ work visible online
Related to open education:
- Assist in the implementation of Buffscreate.net, a Domain of One’s Own pilot, including program support, resource development, organization, student outreach and communication
- Assist in the Innovation Incubator CAMPP project by assisting the CAMPP project manager and team members with individual openly-published projects
- Provide support and resource development for open education practices

Related to growth areas
- Conducting literature reviews, peer institution research, and discovery work in areas related to teaching, learning and technology

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a graduate program at CU �鶹ӰԺ
Familiar with, and able to learn, new technologies for teaching and learning
Dependable and organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with teaching methods, pedagogies and instructional design principles
Experience working with faculty on teaching or curriculum projects
Working knowledge and interest in open and digital pedagogy, open educational resources, and/or open educational practices
Working knowledge and interest in learning communities or communities of practice
Any level of teaching experience
Student and/or youth advocate

Student Technology Consultants (Undergraduate Student Hourly Position)

Are you someone who enjoys learning about new technologies and teaching them to others? ASSETT (Arts and Sciences Support of Education Through Technology) is looking to hire two Student Technology Consultants (STCs). An STC is an undergraduate student who enjoys learning about and using a variety of technologies; is not afraid to present to a large group; and is comfortable working with both peers and faculty.

Student Technology Consultants work closely with Arts & Sciences faculty who are interested in integrating technology into their courses. An STC consults with the instructor on a one-on-one basis to determine the needs of their course, investigate potential tools, and provide a demonstration of the selected technologies. The STC then provides technical support for both the instructor and their students.

Student Technology Consultants are also trained to assist the Visualizing Instructional Practices Service (VIPS) by collecting objective observation data. Finally, the Student Technology Consultants support the ASSETT mission by helping their staff with various technology-related projects.

This is an undergraduate hourly position for 8-12 hours per week, starting at $12 per hour.

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and within a team
Strong verbal and written communication skills
The ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly

Having an interest or experience with video editing, Adobe Creative Cloud, WordPress, and other web publishing tools is a plus.

The Arts & Sciences Support of Education Through Technology (ASSETT) team, a unit supporting the College of Arts and Sciences within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), is hiring a graduate assistant beginning in the Fall 2019 semester. The assistant will help design and conduct applied research to support teaching and learning with technology on campus. This position reports to the Educational Technology Researcher, and will work closely with faculty and other team members. This is a fully-funded Graduate Assistantship for the 2019-2020 academic year (or Fall term only), including tuition remission and a 0.4 FTE (50%) appointment at the Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) rate. Key Responsibilities

Assess university needs surrounding academic technology by assisting with development, distribution, analysis, and reporting of large-scale survey data.
Collect, visualize, and analyze classroom observation data for faculty; identify impactful teaching and learning questions that could be answered with data; conduct analyses to answer these questions; share and report findings to campus stakeholders.
Develop and maintain an organized technical infrastructure that allows for collection, storage, transformation, and analysis of data in accordance with data privacy protocols.
Advance key campus initiatives related to supporting and improving teaching and learning, specifically through the application of learning sciences.
Assist with the development of a new learning analytics service.
Extract meaningful insights that help improve the student experience through data-informed decision making.

Qualifications

Strong research design, implementation, and analytical skills.
Knowledge and experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) theories and best practices in the fields of data analytics and applied learning sciences.
Experience with data visualization software: R (preferred), Tableau, Excel, or Google Sheets.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
Excellent verbal, organizational, decision-making, and written communication skills.

Arts & Sciences Support of Education Through Technology (ASSETT) is hiring two positions: a Lead Student Fellow and a Teaching, Learning, and Technology Initiatives Graduate Assistant (GA).

The Lead Student Fellow will be responsible for supporting two of our initiatives—the Teaching Technology Assistance Program and the Visualizing Instructional Practices services—and leading a group of undergraduate employees, the Student Fellows. This is a great opportunity for graduate students with interests in mentoring undergraduate students, pedagogy, and technology.

The Teaching, Learning, and Technology Initiatives Graduate Assistant will support and enhance our faculty learning communities’ projects, campus partnerships, and technology initiatives such as a Domain of One’s Own (DoOO) pilot, Open Educational Resources (OER), and open educational practices. This is a great opportunity for graduate students interested in educational development and open education initiatives.
