Kara graduated from the Â鶹ӰԺ with a degree in Anthropology.Ìý During her time as an undergraduate student, she studied abroad with SIT in Ecuador and became enamored with learning new languages, travel and anthropology.Ìý

After graduating, Kara moved to Thailand to teach elementary school.Ìý Here, she began her career in education and explored many countries in Southeast Asia. She then moved to Guatemala City and taught 4th grade and some high school classes. These experiencesÌýfueled her interest in understanding different cultures and how they interact with educational systems.

Upon returning to the United States, Kara attended Colorado State University, where she earned her Masters of Arts in Anthropology. As part of this program, Kara completed a thesis that focused on the barriers that inhibit low income families fromÌýaccessing educational resources in inner city Chicago.ÌýÌý

While not at work, Kara enjoys reading ethnographies, traveling, seeing live music, salsa dancing, mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing and hiking.Ìý She is very excited to be back in Â鶹ӰԺ supporting students on their academic journey here at CU!
