Spatial flux balance analysis for studying pattern formation

Flux balance analysis is a mathematical technique used to study biochemical networks. In contrast to other methods, flux balance analysis requires limited information about kinetic parameters and metabolite concentrations. I will present a method for incorporating spatial information into the flux balance analysis framework and apply this method to an example system with diffusion driven instabilities. I will show, using past studies, that the discretized system converges to the PDE and discuss how flux balance analysis can be used to study the behavior of the reaction diffusion system.
