It has been a triumphant year for Professor William Kleiber. The in western France has elected Professor Kleiber as the 2016 Junior Chair. The Lebesgue Center is a mathematics training and research organization that spans many areas of mathematics, but maintains a focus on disciplines connected to the socio-economic environment. During Professor Kleiber鈥檚 time with the center as a visiting professor, the organization took notice of his accomplishments and awarded him the temporary international professorship position of Junior Lebesgue Chair. This position is granted to those who are 鈥渟cientific leaders in the forefront of mathematical research in the laboratories of the Lebesgue Center.鈥
Excitingly, Professor Kleiber was not only elected Junior Chair in 2016, he also received the Young Investigator Award from the . 聽The award was in the . The honor is given for 鈥渙utstanding contributions to the development of multivariate spatial covariance models and probabilistic weather forecasting and for editorial service to the profession.鈥 ENVR aims to influence environmental problems in the U.S. by advancing statistical understanding and sharing this understanding with the public.
