Esteemed Scholars Program

When she was in high school, Emily Schaldach diligently studied and earned high grades with the goal of attending CU聽麻豆影院. As a freshman at CU聽麻豆影院, her outstanding academic achievements are recognized by being named to the聽, a merit-based scholarship program for top Colorado freshmen.

Schaldach, from Durango, is majoring in integrated physiology with a minor in leadership and is in the聽聽housed in Arnett Hall in the Kittredge Complex. She also is taking honors courses and is a member of the聽, a specially designed academic curriculum that focuses on leadership and personal development.

鈥淚t鈥檚 nice to know that all the hard work I did in high school is paying off,鈥 said Schaldach. 鈥淏eing an Esteemed Scholar is such an honor and it helps my family financially.鈥

The CU聽麻豆影院 Esteemed Scholars Program is awarded to a select group of entering resident freshmen students based on a combination of grade-point average and test scores. Schaldach is in the program鈥檚 inaugural class of about 900 students. Her GPA in high school was 4.2.

Not all of her time is spent studying, however. Schaldach races mountain bikes and road bikes as a member of聽聽and is an avid downhill and backcountry skier.

鈥淚 love meeting new people and building communities on campus,鈥 said Schaldach. 鈥淭here are so many interesting and cool people who come to CU in many different ways.鈥
