Project Description
The project is focused on the development of design automation tools for power electronics systems, including switched-mode power converters for energy efficiency and renewable energy applications. Converter components, such as power semiconductor devices and magnetics, are modeled using machine-learning techniques. Such ML-based models are then used in optimization tools to arrive at solutions optimized for efficiency, size, or cost. The students will work with graduate students and post-docs to develop ML-based models and optimization tools, and test out the developed tools by simulations and experiments.
Special Requirements
Prerequisites include working knowledge of Python programming language. Basic knowledge of circuits at the level of ECEN 2250/2260 is highly desirable. Ideally, the student would have taken ECEN4797 Intro to Power Electronics and would have had prior working experience with ML techniques.
