Project Description
We are developing a high resolution ultrasound imaging system that relies on 3-D tracking of the ultrasound probe using the Polaris Vega optical measurement system. This system will be used to enhance image quality for difficult-to-image patients and deep targets in the body. The student will explore the use of this system in tracking swept probe motions and processing these data for use with imaging. The student will learn to design data collection experiments, visualize and quantify motion data, and develop motion filtering algorithms to refine estimates. This work will involve coding in MATLAB (or Python) and will be mentored by both a graduate student and faculty member.
Special Requirements
Students need to have completed a Linear Systems course (ECEN 3300 or similar) and have experience with Matlab or Python.
